    Arctic Initiative, Belfer Center, Harvard Kennedy School

    Founded in 2017, the Arctic Initiative at the Belfer Center addresses the challenges and opportunities being created by rapid climate change in the Arctic.

  • Arctic Institute of North America, University of Calgary
    Arctic Institute of North America, University of Calgary

    The Arctic Institute of North America was created by an Act of Parliament in 1945 as a nonprofit tax-exempt research and educational organization. Originally based at McGill University in Montreal, the Institute moved to the University of Calgary in 1976. In 1979 the Institute became part of the University of Calgary as a university research institute.

    Its mandate is to advance the study of the North American and circumpolar Arctic through the natural and social sciences, the arts and humanities and to acquire, preserve and disseminate information on physical, environmental and social conditions in the North.

    Arctic Research Consortium of the United States (ARCUS)

    The Arctic Research Consortium of the United States (ARCUS) has been connecting Arctic research since 1988. Because of its regional nature, Arctic research often cuts across multiple disciplines, organizations, nations, and populations. ARCUS provides intangible infrastructure to support the formation and enhancement of connections across these boundaries, working toward a more holistic understanding of the Arctic.

  • Arctic Six
    Arctic Six

    The Arctic Six is a partnership between Luleå University of Technology, Umeå University, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Nord University, the University of Lapland, and the University of Oulu, and together they aim to lead the way on Arctic issues. Through this alliance they advance and share knowledge, develop education, undertake research and create innovations for the development of their region and a sustainable Arctic.

    Arctic University of Norway (UiT)

    Uniquely located at 70 degrees north, UiT - The Arctic University of Norway is the northernmost university in the world. Established in 1968, the University is a modern, broad, high-tech university with outstanding degree programs at bachelor, master and PhD level in 8 faculties: humanities, social sciences and education; medicine and health; science and technology; biosciences, fisheries and economics; law; fine arts; and sports, tourism and social services.

    ARCTICenter - University of Northern Iowa

    The Arctic, Remote and Cold Territories Interdisciplinary Center (ARCTICenter) at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) is located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, United States of America. The Center was established by the Iowa Board of Regents in 2015 as a part of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences on the basis of the Arctic Social and Environmental Systems Research Laboratory. ARCTICenter provides research, educational and outreach programs related to the Arctic, administers research grants and provides research and educational experiences for diverse students from various Departments.

    Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies

    The Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies is a national, non-profit academic association, established in 1978. ACUNS responds to needs and priorities in the territories and provincial north by facilitating collaborative and inclusive research partnerships and educational programming, most notably through our student conference and awards program. The ACUNS Awards Program supports post-secondary students and early-career researchers in diverse disciplines of northern studies who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to northern communities.

    Aurora College is focused on Student Success and is committed to demonstrating leadership in the delivery of relevant and meaningful education and research rooted in strong connections to the Northern land, tradition, community and people. Aurora College offers exciting career opportunities in the fields of Nursing and Health Care, Environment and Natural Resources, Business Administration, trades and industrial training, just to name a few. We continue to work very closely with Northern industries, to develop skilled professionals and we offer apprenticeship and trades training programs that will lead to employment in the fields of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, housing maintenance, heavy equipment, and mining.

    Aurora - European University Alliance

    The Aurora is a partnership of like-minded and closely collaborating research intensive European universities, who use their academic excellence to drive societal change and contribute to the sustainable development goals. Aurora network equips European universities to provide a diverse student population with the skills and mindset needed to contribute to addressing societal challenges as social entrepreneurs and innovators.

    Formed in 2016, the Aurora network is a consortium of top-ranked, research-intensive universities in the EU that are committed to the societal impact and engagement with communities.

    With the European Commission’s approval of the Aurora European Universities Alliance, the joint activities were taken to a new level in the summer of 2020.

Originally focusing on contract research and development work in the areas of metals and material science, Battelle is now an international science and technology enterprise that explores emerging areas of science, develops and commercializes technology, and manages laboratories for customers.

    Bifröst University

    Bifröst University offers bachelor and master programs in business, law, and social science on a rural campus 90 minutes from Reykjavík.
    The university offers 42 ECTS of English taught courses each semester, for exchange students.

    The University of Maine's Climate Change Institute (CCI) is an interdisciplinary research unit organized to conduct world-class research, graduate education, and environmental outreach focused on the variability of Earth's climate system, and on the interaction between humans and the natural world.

  • Coast Mountain College (CMTN)
    Coast Mountain College (CMTN)

    CMTN is a recognized leader in Indigenous education. Indigenous peoples comprise roughly 30 percent of the region’s population, the highest among all BC college regions. At CMTN, Indigenous students make up nearly 40 per cent of the student body. This success is attributed to the college’s collaboration with surrounding First Nations communities. These communities have been crucial in developing programs that allow our Indigenous students to rediscover their culture through education.

    Promoting and advancing the development of healthy, durable, and sustainable shelter for Alaskans and other circumpolar people. The Cold Climate Housing Research Center (CCHRC) is working on more than 50 projects throughout the state, including sustainable design, building science research, policy analysis, and consulting with homeowners and contractors.

    Social Pedagogical School was established in 1969 as one of the vocational training institutions with the aim of training social pedagogic staff for all categories of Greenlandic day and daycare institutions and for the municipality's service apparatus. Teaching in social education (preschool, social problems, children and youth care and welfare, disabled people etc.)

    The Dechinta Centre for Research and Learning is an Indigenous land-based initiative delivering accredited post-secondary education and research experiences in the North. Led by northern experts, Dechinta aims to engage students, researchers and community members in transformative academic programs based on the unique needs of Dene and Inuvialuit communities. Its work is centered around three main pillars: Post-secondary accredited programs, research and community engagement.
